Card and/or board games, such as Monopoly or UNO, are being collected in the lobby of the Newport Beach Police Department, 870 Santa Barbara Dr., through Friday, March 22. A large, gift-wrapped "Miracles for Kids" collection box is located just inside the front doors.

All the games will be delivered to various families and hospitals at the conclusion of the drive.

"Our members chose Miracles for Kids for the happiness it brings to children with cancer or other life-threatening illnesses," said Jeff Munsell, president of the Newport Beach Police Association. "These brave kids are going through more than any of us can imagine. We know that smiles and laughter are strong medicine. Hopefully these games help in their recoveries."
